The Family Guide is
written at a 6th to 8th grade reading level. It
is written in an easy-to-read format, with feature boxes and checklists
breaking the chapters into smaller segments. Research is showing that
many employers are looking for entry-level workers who can function at
a minimum of an 8th grade reading level. Special efforts were
made in the instructional design to chunk content to make it easier to
understand and retain the materials, especially for lower functioning
readers.
The
goal-setting exercises at the end of each chapter are designed to
help the learner focus on the skills presented in the
chapter and begin to integrate them into his or her personal life.
This book was written to assist individuals in getting ready for
employment. It focuses on skills employers are looking for in todays
successful worker.
